Sandra Nettleingham // Principal

Mrs. Nettleingham received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Music from Cedarville University. She completed her Master of Science in Administration, majoring in Educational Leadership, at Madonna University in 2007. Her teaching experiences include English, Music, Creative Writing, Yearbook, Speech, Drama, and Preschool. Mrs. Nettleingham taught music and preschool at CCS before moving to school administration. Ten years ago, Mrs. Nettleingham became Principal at Cornerstone Christian School, where her passion is to educate students with a Christian worldview.

Lisa Giammalva // Assistant Principal

Mrs. Giammalva brings sixteen years of classroom teaching experience to Cornerstone. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and her Reading Endorsement from Eastern Michigan University. Mrs. Giammalva is always ready to help students and teachers with a smile. She started working at CCS in 2012 and became Assistant Principal in 2017.

Laura Elliott // 5th Grade

Mrs. Elliott received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Michigan State University. She has over 25 years of experience as a middle school classroom teacher in the Fowlerville Community Schools. She has presented at conferences integrating math, science, and technology, served on numerous committees designing curriculum, and established a writing club. She lives in Brighton with her husband and two children. Mrs. Elliott has been at CCS since 2018.

Susan Karczynski // 3rd Grade

Mrs. Karczynski received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan Dearborn and graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Wayne State University. She has experience teaching second and third grade in the Westwood District for ten years, as well as teaching five-year-old preschool in South Lyon. In her free time, Mrs. Karczynski enjoys biking, kayaking, and exploring Michigan with her husband and two children. Mrs. Karczynski joined the CCS staff in 2017.

Chivonn Quist // 2nd Grade

Mrs. Quist graduated from the University of Saint Francis with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. She taught 2nd grade, 5th grade and was an intervention specialist at a middle school before becoming a stay-at-home mom of Charlotte and Taylor. Mrs. Quist enjoys hobby farming with her family and spending time with friends and family.

Dianne Turner // 1st Grade

Mrs. Turner has 20 years of experience working with students as a classroom teacher and as an elementary administrator. She spent most of those years teaching kindergarten but has also taught 5th, 6th and, multi-age elementary classrooms. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Spring Arbor University and a teaching certificate and Master of Arts in Reading from Eastern Michigan University. Mrs. Turner is married and has two children in college. Mrs. Turner began her work at CCS in 2016.

Maureen Arbour // Kindergarten

Mrs. Arbour graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education plus 18 graduate hours to receive a Continuing Teacher Certificate from Eastern Michigan University. She had 11 years of teaching experience Kindergarten-2nd grade classrooms before staying home to raise her children. Following that, she had a home business for 10 years, and for 6 years she worked in the Brighton Area Schools as an EA and RTI Reading Interventionist. Mrs. Arbour is excited to be part of the Cornerstone team and teaching not only academics but most importantly about the love of our Lord and Savior.

Ilona Rugg // 4th Grade

Mrs. Rugg came from a Polish/German background and attended school for three years in Berlin. She graduated from Wayne State University with a Masters +15 with a major in Science and a minor in Art. She also has an Advanced Master Gardener Certification from Michigan State University. Mrs. Rugg has worked as an educator for over 30 years in Michigan, 26.5 of those years in the Novi Community School District from where she retired in 2020. She has volunteered for numerous conservative events in Michigan, amongst other things, attending workshops in Washington D.C. and helping in campaigns. She and her husband enjoy mountain biking, roller blading, traveling, and cross-country skiing. She loves ice cream, chocolate, flowers, cooking, gardening, and guinea pigs.

Jeanne Strandbergh // Algebra / 8th Grade Math

Mrs. Strandbergh graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Minor in Chemistry from the University of Michigan. She worked as an Environmental Chemist until her eldest daughter was born. She enjoys playing her piano and reading. Mrs. Strandbergh has taught for over 14 years.

Nathan King // Middle School

Mr. King has earned his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with two minors in Mathematics and Integrated Science from Eastern Michigan University. Throughout school, Mr. King participated in singing and in theater. He loves to go biking, camping, and spending time with friends and family. Mr. King has just recently joined our teaching staff and is very excited to get to know his students and their families.

Kim Windeler // Middle School

Mrs. Windeler has been an educator for over 20 years. She began her career at Cornerstone Christian School in 1991 as the K-8 music teacher. After earning a BS in social sciences at Eastern Michigan University, she taught at Ann Arbor Christian School for several years. She has also worked in Saline teaching Prekindergarten, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, and at Livingston Classical School. Mrs. Windeler’s Masters coursework included curriculum development and reading. She has a passion for Christian education and strives to incorporate a Biblical world view in each subject taught. She lives in Brighton with her family and in her free time enjoys traveling, camping, cooking, and gardening.

Nancy Cullen // 3S & 4S

Mrs. Cullen received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Michigan State University and a Master of Education degree from Kennesaw State University in Georgia. She taught Kindergarten in Georgia for seven years and worked for the St. Clare Shore District as a Kindergarten-3rd Grade Reading Intervention teacher for two years. Her professional activities have included Language Arts Curriculum writing and participation in both Curriculum and Kindergarten Assessment Committees, among others. Mrs. Cullen joined Cornerstone’s preschool program in 2009.

Stephanie Petroskey // Beginnergarten

Mrs. Petroskey is the Beginnergarten class lead teacher. Stephanie earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a concentration in early childhood education from Martin Luther College and a master's degree from Oakland University in early childhood education. Prior to working at CCS, she taught elementary education, various preschool levels, middle school art, and social studies, along with being an assistant director at a nationally accredited early childhood program. Stephanie is a South Lyon resident with her family and is excited to join the Cornerstone team.

Becky Anthony // Preschool Aide

Mrs. Anthony received an Associate in Business Studies Degree from Delta Community College. Becky and her husband John have been married for 30 years and reside in Brighton with their three children Garrett, Gabrielle, and Grace. Mrs. Anthony has been a stay-at-home mom for the past 24 years. She has been highly involved in volunteering in the Brighton schools since her children entered preschool and continues to volunteer as Grace finishes her senior year at Brighton High School. Becky has also volunteered over the years for her children’s sports teams from Team Treasurer, Team Manager to Youth Cheer Coach. Becky enjoys taking summer trips with her family where they can spend quality time together making lifelong memories.

Deanna Baker // Arts

Mrs. Baker earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Graphic Design from Eastern Michigan University. After graduating, she moved out to Seattle, Washington, and freelanced for Wizards of the Coast before finding her dream job at Nintendo of America. There, she created logos and layouts for Nintendo Power Magazine, Player's Guides, and Manuals. After starting a family, the Bakers moved to Michigan and started their own functional art business, where they feel blessed to use their God-given talents to help others. Mrs. Baker has taught many workshops but is excited to teach and create with everyone at CCS!

Cori Kurncz // Physical Education

Mrs. Kurncz received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, Dearborn, and is a certified personal trainer. Professionally, she has worked many years in both children's and youth ministry. In addition to ministry work, she has eleven years of combined professional coaching experience as a gymnastics, fitness, strength, pom, and cheerleading instructor. Mrs. Kurncz began teaching at Cornerstone in 2010.

Rachel Olson // Music

Mrs. Olson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Piano Pedagogy from Oakland University. She has shared her enthusiasm for music and Jesus through private teaching of piano and voice lessons for over 16 years. She has directed and arranged music for vocal groups and performs as a professional soloist regularly. Along with her joy of teaching music to CCS students, Mrs. Olson is Director of The Cornerstone School of Fine Arts.

Rebekah Pollard // Spanish

Mrs. Pollard graduated from Eastern Michigan University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Spanish for Secondary Education. She has seven years of experience teaching high school students in Colorado and middle school students in Detroit, MI. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, knitting, and spending time with her husband, son, and dog. Mrs. Pollard joined our teaching staff in 2016.

Michelle Annas // Resource Teacher

Mrs. Annas has been teaching for over 30 years in elementary parochial schools. She has taught kindergarten through fourth grade. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree and Teaching Certificate from Concordia University and a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement from Eastern Michigan University. Mrs. Annas also holds a Director certification in Early Childhood Education. She has been married to her husband for 36 years and has three children and four grandchildren. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, reading, biking, and spending time up north with family and friends.
