Michelle Annas // Principal

Mrs. Annas received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Teaching Certificate from Concordia University. She also received a Master of Early Childhood Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement from Eastern Michigan University. In addition, Mrs. Annas holds a Director of Early Childhood Education certification and has more than 12 years of Early Childhood Director experience. Mrs. Annas has taught kindergarten through fourth grade for over 35 years and has been a Resource Room teacher for two years. Mrs. Annas has been married to her husband for 38 years, has three children and five grandchildren. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, reading, biking, spending time up north with family and friends.

Dr. Vicki Kloosterhouse // Head of School

Dr. Vicki Kloosterhouse earned a Master of Arts in Classroom Education from Michigan State University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Family and Child Ecology with a focus on psychosocial health. With four years of teaching in high school and another 25 years in higher education, she also has had the privilege of training teachers globally. Additionally, she served as Dean of Education at a Christian college in Africa. Dr. Kloosterhouse considers teaching a noble calling, particularly when it involves shaping children’s lives according to Christian principles. She currently lives in Brighton with her husband and is a proud grandmother of three.

Sandra Lorey // Business Operations and Events

Mrs. Lorey has been a part of the CCS community for the past 15 years, first as a parent, and then for the past four years, as part of the office staff. Just this past year she has moved into the Business Office, overseeing finance, operations and events. This was a natural progression, as she and her husband, Randy, have been business owners for the past three decades. They've also been married for 30 years, have three sons ages 25, 23, and 18, and have lived in Howell for the past 21 years.

Holly Manssur // Marketing Director

Ms. Manssur has more than 30 years of Marketing experience and is the owner of three small businesses. Holly received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan where her focus was Communications and minor was Writing. Ms. Manssur raised both of her sons in Faith sending them to St. John School in Fenton and then to Powers High School in Flint. It was Holly's strong belief in the positive impact of a Christian education that brought her to work with CCS. In addition to spending time with family, Holly enjoys boating, kayaking, dancing and assisting animal rescues.

Kim Windeler // Middle School

Mrs. Windeler has been an educator for over 20 years. She began her career at Cornerstone Christian School in 1991 as the K-8 music teacher. After earning a BS in social sciences at Eastern Michigan University, she taught at Ann Arbor Christian School for several years. She has also worked in Saline teaching Pre-kindergarten, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, and at Livingston Classical School. Mrs. Windeler’s Masters coursework included curriculum development and reading. She has a passion for Christian education and strives to incorporate a Biblical world view in each subject taught. She lives in Brighton with her family and in her free time enjoys traveling, camping, cooking, and gardening.

Nicole Cullers // Middle School- ELA, Social Studies and Math

Mrs. Cullers teaches: 6th/7th grade English, 7th grade Math, 7th grade Bible, 8th grade Social Studies, 6th/7th/8th grade Steam, and 7th/8th grade Technology Education. Mrs. Cullers earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Middle School Mathematics endorsement, and Masters in Reading Specialist from the University of Michigan- Dearborn. Hardy County, West Virginia is where Mrs. Cullers started her career, prior to taking time off to raise her children. She returned to education two years ago working for Brighton Area Schools as a substitute teacher. The Cullers Family have been Brighton residents for the last 15 years. Mr. and Mrs. Cullers have three children; Colton- eleventh grade, Colin- sixth grade, and Colette- second grade. Colin and Colette will also be joining the Cornerstone family. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, scrapbooking, photography, volunteering in the community and snuggling with her Basset Hound.

Danielle Carroll // Middle School Science

Mrs. Carroll has had several roles as an educator, but her role with CCS is especially exciting because its her first time serving the Lord as an educator in a Christian school. Mrs. Carroll has a passion for helping children to reach their potential and believes that learning should be cultivated through beauty and wonder. What she loves most about science is that it is filled with one miracle after another, which encourages questions and sparks curiosity. Mrs. Carroll graduated from the University of Michigan- Dearborn with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Her master’s degree is in education from Wayne State University, with a middle school endorsement to teach science. She lives in Brighton and has been married to her husband, Michael, for 20 years. They have four fantastic boys who are 19,17,15 and 14. One of their sons is moving back to Grand Valley State University to start his Sophomore year of college while their other three boys attend Catholic Central High School.

Kristi Shaffer // Middle School Math

Mrs. Shaffer has been in the education field for 14 years. She began her career teaching high school math at Brighton and North Farmington. For the last eight years, she has been a private tutor for local high school and middle school students. Mrs. Shaffer attended Michigan State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Math as well as a Masters of Curriculum. She is most excited to be able to share her faith with her kids and work with them to become more Christ-like. Mrs. Shaffer has been married to her husband Billy for 14 years, and has three wonderful children, Billy III, Elizabeth, and Ethan.

Maureen Arbour // Kindergarten

Mrs. Arbour graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education plus 18 graduate hours to receive a Continuing Teacher Certificate from Eastern Michigan University. She had 11 years of teaching experience Kindergarten-2nd grade classrooms before staying home to raise her children. Following that, she had a home business for 10 years, and for 6 years she worked in the Brighton Area Schools as an EA and RTI Reading Interventionist. Mrs. Arbour is excited to be part of the Cornerstone team and teaching not only academics but most importantly about the love of our Lord and Savior.

Dianne Turner // 1st Grade

Mrs. Turner has over 20 years of experience working with students as a classroom teacher and as an elementary administrator. She spent most of those years teaching kindergarten but has also taught 5th, 6th and, multi-age elementary classrooms. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Spring Arbor University and a teaching certificate and Master of Arts in Reading from Eastern Michigan University. Mrs. Turner is married and has two children in college. Mrs. Turner began her work at CCS in 2016.

Chivonn Quist // 2nd Grade

Mrs. Quist graduated from the University of Saint Francis with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. She taught 2nd grade, 5th grade and was an intervention specialist at a middle school before becoming the stay-at-home mom of Charlotte and Taylor. Mrs. Quist enjoys hobby farming with her family and spending time with friends and family.

Susan Karczynski // 3rd Grade

Mrs. Karczynski received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan Dearborn and graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Wayne State University. She taught second and third grades in the Westwood District for ten years, as well as five-year-old preschool in South Lyon. In her free time, Mrs. Karczynski enjoys biking, kayaking, and exploring Michigan with her husband and two children. Mrs. Karczynski joined the CCS staff in 2017.

Lisa Giammalva // 4th Grade

Mrs. Giammalva brings sixteen years of classroom teaching experience to Cornerstone. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and her Reading Endorsement from Eastern Michigan University. Mrs. Giammalva is always ready to help students and teachers with a smile. She started working at CCS in 2012.

Lynne Kelly // 5th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Kelly is excited to be partnering with Mrs. Demeray to teach 5th grade. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education with an endorsement in Emotional Impairment and a minor in English Language and Literature. After spending time raising a family, she returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher working at various schools in Pinckney Fowlerville and Howell. She has been married to her husband John, who is also a fifth grade teacher, for 24 years. They have six children - Lauren (23), Erin (21), Grace (20), Travis (18), Luke (16), and Olivia (13). In her free time she can be found enjoying God's creation in the garden, hiking the many trails of Northern Michigan, or caring for her numerous farm animals.

Lynne Kaminski // Preschool 3 and Preschool 4

Mrs. Kaminski has taught elementary school for 15 years at faith based private schools in Ohio and Illinois. She is very happy to be back in her home state of Michigan! Mrs. Kaminski loves to nurture and teach children to be the best version of themselves. She and her husband have four grown children and two grandchildren.

Abbie Nestor // Beginnergarten

Mrs. Nestor graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University where she concentrated her studies in Elementary Education. She has taught 1st, 4th and 3rd grade, and was also an elementary science teacher. Mrs. Nestor joins us from Plymouth-Canton school district where she taught 1st and 4th grade in their Virtual Academy. She is passionate about teaching students to find the answers to their own questions through inquiry and project-based learning and is looking forward to incorporating that model into all of her classes. Abbie and her husband Josh live in Howell with their son Owen.

Michele Wright // Resource Room Teacher

Mrs. Wright graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a Bachelor of Arts degree and holds an additional Curriculum and Instruction Certificate from Mid-America Christian University's Master of Education (M.Ed.) program. She taught in Oklahoma City Public Schools from 2015-2021 and taught in a public charter school, Madison Academy, in Michigan since moving to the state in 2021. Michele and her husband are both credentialed ministers and have pastored for over twenty years. They currently serve their denomination in a state director role, encompassing various youth, discipleship, and credentialing coordinator functions. They have four children; two are married and live in Oklahoma and California, and two live in Michigan. In her spare time, she writes and edits church curriculum and travels to visit family. Mrs. Wright says, "I am excited to join CCS to combine my love of teaching and my love of Jesus to help students realize their purpose and potential."

Becky Anthony // Preschool Aide

Mrs. Anthony received an Associate in Business Studies Degree from Delta Community College. Becky and her husband John have been married for over 30 years and reside in Brighton with their three children Garrett, Gabrielle, and Grace. Mrs. Anthony has been a stay-at-home mom for the past 25 years. She has been highly involved in volunteering in the Brighton schools since her children entered preschool and continues to volunteer.. Becky has also volunteered over the years for her children’s sports teams from Team Treasurer, Team Manager to Youth Cheer Coach. Becky enjoys taking summer trips with her family where they can spend quality time together making lifelong memories.

Jessica Dubs // After School Club Organizer

Mrs. Dub's family has been part of the CCS family for seven years. During that time, she greatly enjoyed getting to know staff and families as a volunteer. Jessica and her husband Grant have been married for 20 years and have three children. Billy is a Senior at Milford High School, Anna is in 8th grade at CCS and Nora is in 5th. After being a stay-at-home mom for 17 years, Mrs. Dubs made the transition back into the workforce. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends, organizing, cleaning, and taking walks at Kensington.

Elizabeth Erickson // Preschool Classroom Aide

Mrs. Erickson is a classroom aide in our 3 & 4-year-old preschool program. She will be graduating next year from Eastern Michigan University with a teaching degree and ZA endorsement in Early Childhood Education. Elizabeth has completed over 200 hours of classroom observations in various grades and will be conducting her student teaching in the Fall term. Mrs. Erickson says, "I love children and teaching! It gives me great joy to be with your children and assisting in Mrs. Kaminski’s classroom!"

Deanna Baker // Arts

Mrs. Baker earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Graphic Design from Eastern Michigan University. After graduating, she moved out to Seattle, Washington, and freelanced for Wizards of the Coast before finding her dream job at Nintendo of America. There, she created logos and layouts for Nintendo Power Magazine, Player's Guides, and Manuals. After starting a family, the Bakers moved to Michigan and started their own functional art business, where they feel blessed to use their God-given talents to help others. Mrs. Baker has taught many workshops but is excited to teach and create with everyone at CCS!

Laura Cleveland // Physical Education

Mrs. Cleveland grew up in Dexter Michigan, graduating from Dexter High School in 1989. She attended Alma College, majoring in Exercise and Health Science. Laura played four years of volleyball for the Scots and was honored to serve as Captain her senior year. During college, Mrs. Cleveland started her coaching career at Ithaca High School, coaching the JV Volleyball team. She completed her Student Teaching there as well. After college, Laura was hired at Chelsea High School, which had ironically been her high school rival. Mrs. Cleveland taught middle school and high school Physical Education throughout her 24-year career at Chelsea. She served as both the JV Volleyball coach (for five seasons) and the Varsity Volleyball Coach (for 18 seasons). Laura retired from Chelsea High School in 2018 to be a full-time mom. Mrs. Cleveland loved her years of being a Bulldog and will always root for them. Laura was inducted into the MIVCA Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame last February. Mrs. Cleveland has been married to her husband Matt for 28 years and has a son Brady, who is eleven years old. Brady has attended Cornerstone since Pre-3, and is looking forward to his 5th grade year. In her spare time Laura enjoys golf, pickleball and water skiing with her family.

Marilyn Floyd // Music Teacher

With more than 25 years of experience as a private music teacher, Mrs. Floyd has had the privilege of nurturing countless talents and spreading the joy of music far and wide. Additionally, Marilyn wears the hat of Music Director at School for the Arts Musical Theater camps, where young performers shine on the stage. Mrs. Floyd holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas and is certified in Education Through Music, a method that promotes physical, mental, and emotional growth through language, song, movement, and play. In addition, she has studied music theory and music history through Julliard School of Music. Exciting news on the horizon: She’s also a children's book author, and her debut early chapter book, published by Kindred Publishing, is set to hit the shelves in 2024! Beyond the world of music and literature, Marilyn is a therapy dog handler. She partners with her dog Winston, and together, they specialize in working with special needs children. Their mission is not only to spread joy; but to also educate young people about greeting and interacting with friendly dogs while promoting comfort and confidence. Mrs. Floyd has lived in Brighton most of her adult life, is married to Don, and has four adult children, Jacob, Tyler, Christian, and Karina. “I am thrilled to sing, move, and make music with the children at Cornerstone. Music is a gift from God that is meant to be shared.”

Mrs. R // Spanish

Teaching Spanish and the Latino / Hispanic culture is one of Mrs. R's passions. She believes that every child deserves the opportunity to learn a new language as it gives them the gift of connecting with more people, a better understanding of their community and the great opportunity to see the world in a different way. She was born and raised in Mexico and has a master of Organizational Psychology degree with a specialty in Industrial Psychology from Universidad de las Americas Puebla (UDLAP). Mrs. R also holds a Michigan Teaching Certification with an endorsement in Spanish for K-12. Mrs. R is part of the Brighton community and has been happily married for almost 19 years. She has two beautiful daughters; one is eight years old and the other is four years old. After God, her family is the most important priority in her life. Mrs. R has previous experience in education from preschool to college. She was also part of a beautiful program for several years that helped Canadian missionary families to learn Mexican culture and language during their time in Mexico. When Mrs. R came to the U.S.A, she came as an international student to UCF (University of Central Florida) where she had the opportunity to work for Daytona State College as a Spanish tutor in a special program for underprivileged college students. When she moved to Michigan, she had the honor of working for Ypsilanti Public Schools as a Spanish teacher. "Please, feel free to stop in my class any time to say “Hola”. Remember, in my Spanish class we are a familia and the door will always be open for you." -Mrs. R.
